CVS Pharmacy: Purpose Over Profits
CVS Continues To Put Purpose Over Profits
CVS is climbing the charts as one of my favorite companies because of their commitment to being a true wellness retailer versus the traditional convenient drugstore. Back in 2014 CVS, the largest pharmacy chain in the US, made the courageous choice to stop selling cigarettes and other tobacco products in all their nearly 8,000 stores, which amounted to about $2 billion in sales. Now The Wall Street Journal reports that the retailer has made the decision to stop selling tanning oils or sunscreens with an SPF under 15. These products do very little to prevent skin cancer. The chain is also removing foods containing trans fats next.
United Airlines Just Can’t Get It Right
A mother paid nearly $1,000 so her 2-year-old son would have his own seat on a flight, which is understandable since the airlines policy is children over the age of 2 must have their own ticket and occupy their own seat. However that didn’t stop United from selling that seat for $75 to a standby passenger. Once again United wasn’t willing to do anything until the media became aware of the problem. A spokesperson for the airline said the gate agent didn’t scan the child’s boarding pass, which prompted them to sell his seat to another passenger.
