Are you and your organization focused on leadership, or you focused on the byproducts of leadership?
The biggest obstacle organizations are facing today when it comes to leadership is that they’re getting too wrapped up in the rate of return ($$$), rather than the rate of return of the value that they’re providing.
We’ve got to bring ourselves back to providing value to serving each other.
Here are three stepping stones that will help you get to where you need to be as a leader:
- Understanding how to lead the conversation inside us
First, you need to understand how to lead the conversation inside us. We all have these positive (whisper) and negative (whiner) voices bouncing around. Our brains are built for survival mode so it has a negativity bias, which is much more powerful than the positive ones. Therefore, you need to learn to create shortcuts or an overdrive mechanism to quiet the “whiner” so you can start listening to the “whisper.”
- Understanding the things we can control
Decide what to focus on because the focus funnel is important in driving action.
- The belief loop that you can own and drive
In today’s leadership, you’ve got to help. If you don’t believe in it, people can sniff it out. They’re not going to believe you. So you need to understand and recognize a reason to believe before you can get others to believe in you. And when everybody starts believing, then we’ve got a direction and we’ve got some hope. We’ve got some focus and purpose of what we can get accomplished.
