Awesome Commencement Speech/Best Advice Ever/Are you an Energy Sucker?

Great Commencement Speech

One of my favorite bloggers and podcasters, Scott Galloway wrote a great piece called Advice to Grads: Be Warriors, Not Wokesters. Here are a few of my favorite lines:

“Don’t do what you are asked to do, but what you are capable of doing…Get strong, really strong. You should be able to walk into a room and believe you could overpower, outrun, or outlast every person in the room…take as much of this energy and time for the next couple years and reallocate that human capital to three things: work, relationships, and fitness…Balance is a myth. There are only trade-offs. Having balance at my age is a function of lacking it at your age.”

I highly recommend reading the entire piece and sharing it with anyone that is entering the work world.

Best Advice Joe Rogan Ever Received

Joe Rogan has the largest podcast in the world, called the Joe Rogan Experience, besides being a comedian and former actor. In the Moonshots Podcast featuring Joe Rogan, Rogan shared the best advice he ever received. Warning, some of the language he uses might be considered offensive.

“What I tell people is the best advice I’ve ever heard. Is live your life like you’re the hero in your movie. And right now, is when the f#@king movie starts and your life is a shitbag disaster…pretend that’s where you are right now, you’re in the part of the movie that starts, and it shows you as a f#@king loser and just decide not to be a loser anymore. Live your life. Like there’s a documentary crew following you around and you are analyzing your own behavior, do what you would want to do so that your kids one day would look back at it and see that documentary and look on it with pride, like, wow, my dad was a bad motherf#@ker. He really did what he had to do. Wow. Or my mom really got her shit together. I’d love a success story, but even more than a success story, I like a dude who screws his life up and then gets it back together. Those are my favorite stories and the way to do that. You gotta write shit down. You gotta think that you are the hero in your own f#@king movie. And then you get to sit down, and you’ve got to write down what you need to do.”
