3 Ways to Get Yourself Out of a Slump and Change Direction
If you find yourself stuck in a habit that doesn’t serve you, whether in business or in life, here are three concepts that you can apply to help you steer yourself in the right direction.
Chosen Suffering
Chosen sufferings are things we choose to bring our way. They are the things we ask for. We choose them and they take us down a path that is sometimes great or sometimes bad for us. Whether you choose drugs, alcohol, to stay in an unhealthy relationship, or you choose to run five miles in the morning, success leaves clues. And most people who climb really high understand suffering and that it’s going to be difficult.
The 3 Success Pillars
- People
It’s critical that you choose the people you surround yourselves with because every decision is leading you in a direction that leads to an outcome.
- Environment
Find or create an environment that shares love and truth instead of fear. Fear is a motivator, but real love is the greatest motivator. And anybody who’s going to climb really high in anything is hungry for truth. You won’t be able to assess anything until you get to the truth. Whether in sports, business, or relationships, we can’t move forward without truth.
Environment is the culture of the organization you’re in. It will either build you up or make you realize you’re not willing to work hard enough.
- Mindset
You won’t be able to enhance your culture, move to the right environment, or surround yourself with the right people until you have that right mindset and you know what you stand for. Feed yourself the right things and you get stronger, but feed yourself the wrong things and you get weaker.
Positive Infinity Crashes Any Pity Party
Staying positive is not easy to do. But this goes back to having a good network of friends and wise people around you. Talk yourself into being positive consistently because being negative is never going to move you forward.
